The tasting sessions of the 2nd International Barbera Competition took place on November 15-18th in Alessandria. The international jury, including journalists and consumer's representatives, evaluated the 305 entries of the competition, 35 coming from outside Italy, mainly from Australia and California. 74 wines obtained a score higher than 85/100. The absolute winner is Barbera d'Asti Superiore 2004 produced by Tenuta La Fiammenga. Among the wines in category 4 (foreign wines produced with at least 50% Barbera grapes), the final tasting session gave the best score to Barbera Rezerve 2004 produced by Shenandoah Vineyards in Plymouth, California.
