Managing variability through precision viticulture practices: experiences in small vineyard plots

Variability within a plot can be managed through precision viticulture (PV) protocols that allow the identification of homogeneous zones and, consequently, specific operations to be carried out in each of these zones. These applications include selective harvesting (SH).

This exhaustive three-year research work showed that in the same vineyard it was possible to identify two distinct zones, and that thanks to selective harvesting it was possible to make the most of the variability of the vineyard. From the same plot, grapes were obtained, on the one hand, for the production of young sparkling wines and, on the other hand, grapes for the production of barrel-aged wines.
