A new range of tannins to enhance and protect the identity of wines

A new range of tannins to enhance and protect the identity of wines

X-TAN®the line of high-tech tannins originated from natural mixtures that enhance the identities of the wines, grape variety and terroir of origin

An accurate study developed by the R&D Department of Enologica Vason, Verona, has revealed how natural blends of valuable grape seeds, grape skins and woody elements, such as French and American oak, when integrated in the elaboration of tannins for oenological use, know how to interact with wines, with certain and controlled reactivities.

This is how the new X-TAN® range, Enologica Vason's tannins, was born from the blend of natural oenological matrices.SIMEI 2022 was the stage of honor for the presentation of the five new products X-TAN® DEEP, X-TAN® WIDE, X-TAN® UP, X-TAN® FULL and X-TAN® SKILL.

X-TAN® tannins are originated entirely, from natural blends that see the combination of classic oenological matrices, e.g., fine grape seeds and grape skins, and woody elements, such as French and American oak. The experts at Enologica Vason have been able to recognize the potential of these elements and their ability to interact with wines, with certain and controlled reactivities.
In addition, thanks to in-house Control & Quality Testing, Enologica Vason's experts ensure that every single production batch keeps the valuable product characteristics intact.

X-TAN® 's are balanced, reactive blends of catechinic and ellagic tannins that, in a controlled manner, contribute:

  • to the direct consumption of oxygen
  • to reactivity towards proteins
  • to the stability of the coloring matter of wines

The process of preparing X-TAN® tannins involves a special step: the tannins undergo a special "instantaneization" treatment, which promotes granulation. This step, in fact, makes the product readily soluble in water, even cold water, respecting their delicate organoleptic qualities and preserving their technological expression.

Thanks to these characteristics, X-TAN® tannins contribute to the enhancement of the identity of wines, their grape variety and their original terroir.

Together with the X-PRO® range, X-TAN® tannins are part of a production process that supports and enhances the identity of wines: the ID PROCESS®, the combination of physical interventions or natural adjuvants that contribute to oenological stabilizations without the use of additives.

The tannins in the X-TAN® range are among the AURORAS® products.
AURORAS® is the vision of VASONGROUP: we want to present the best technology of JUCLAS and the ENOLOGICA VASON innovations, conceived and designed to decrease the impact of oenological practice on wine, giving back a more authentic product, which respects the work in the vineyard and is able to respond to the need for transparency and responsibility of both the customer and the new European and international regulations. This is a great opportunity for technological innovation in the world of wine, and we dedicate and will dedicate all our know-how and passion to it.
