MACROWINE normally takes place every two years in different countries.  It is considered to be the most important scientific congress for the wine sector, due to the breadth of topics covered - from vine to glass - and due to the number and origin of the researchers who contribute.  The 2021 edition presents a total of 310 scientific papers from all over the world.

The programme includes 65 oral presentations by researchers belonging to 36 research groups from 13 different countries: Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, China, USA, Chile, Uruguay, South Africa. Six keynote speakers will open the conference sessions. A prestigious Scientific Committee has selected 25 oral communications and 35 flash talks, which will be presented live during the conference. In addition, participants will have access to 280 posters.

The Organising Committee of MACROWINE 2021 has Maurizio Ugliano of the University of Verona as host; Fulvio Mattivi of the Edmund Mach Foundation and Luca Rolle of the University of Turin as co-host. The congress, originally planned to be held in the beautiful setting of Verona, has been converted into a virtual one with the help of the VINIDEA secretariat, and will be able to benefit from the numerous advantages offered by the environment offers to scientific conferences.

The first and most important advantage of the virtual congress is the high scientific level of the papers presented: all the world's most prestigious scientists can contribute to the virtual congress, without their physical presence being limited by the lack of time available on those dates.

The second advantage is the possibility of hosting a significant number of oral presentations in the programme, distributing them in short sessions spread over several days. The total 20 hours of live Macrowine 2021 are distributed in 10 sessions of two hours each, placed either early in the morning or late in the afternoon to allow participants to carry out their normal work in the middle of the day. In this way, MACROWINE 2021 offers three times more oral presentations than the face-to-face editions.

All MACROWINE 2021 participants will have continuous access to an online repository of all 65 recorded papers and 280 posters in digital format, so that they can listen to or read the conference content at their preferred times and days and not miss any content of interest.

The web environment also allows for greater interaction between congress participants, who can contact the authors of each scientific contribution directly with questions or offers of collaboration, share their comments with all the other congress participants in a specific chat room, and watch live as many as 5 hours of discussion by participating in the various themed round tables scheduled during the second week of the congress.

To attend MACROWINE 2021, you must register online by 18 June 2021.
