In the field, just as in the vineyard, collecting data is not enough: true value comes from the ability to turn it into useful guidance for taking action at the right time.

The European AgriDataValue project develops and tests smart agriculture solutions that integrate IoT sensors, agroclimatic data and advanced analytics tools. In the pilot vineyards, the continuous monitoring of parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, soil moisture and temperature, and leaf wetness makes it possible to interpret vineyard conditions and their evolution with greater precision.

The aim is to support more targeted decisions in irrigation management, disease prevention and the assessment of climate risks, such as spring frosts. Integration with machine learning models can help identify early signals and risk windows, supporting winegrowers in optimising interventions, reducing inputs and strengthening farm sustainability and resilience.

In the following video, produced by ZSA, a partner of the AgriDataValue consortium, a concrete example of Pilot #3 is presented, developed at the Vilscini 1 cereal farm in the Zemgale region of Latvia. The case shows how the integration of field observations, laboratory analyses, weather stations and soil sensors can feed predictive models to detect disease risk in a timely manner, optimise crop management interventions and reduce production losses.
