The Œnologues de France have been organizing an international wine competition, the Vinalies Internationales, for 25 years. And if rosé wine is unquestionably a worldwide phenomenon, Œnologues de France has been accompanying this movement since 2004 with a thematic competition: the Mondial du Rosé. These two competitions of high expertise follow the international standards for competitions decreed by the OIV (no more than 30% of wines are awarded with medals) and are also organized under the patronage of the International Union of Oenologists and VINOFED.
They involve exclusively oenologists and wine professionals of repute in their countries. The Gold and Silver medals of the Vinalies Internationales and the Mondial du Rosé are an international recognition and distinguish wines for their sensory qualities regardless of their geographical origin. Unique in the world of competitions, each medal is accompanied by a commentary written by the president of the jury concerned, a French oenologist.
More than 800 comments are posted online one month after the end of each competition (in French and English from the 2021 edition) and are a technical and hedonic reflection of wines from more than 40 countries. If the vocation of the oenologist is the elaboration of wine, tasting is at the heart of his profession. It is through these comments in particular that oenologists assert their expertise.
This expertise is reinforced in the Mondial du Rosé with the partnership with the Centre du Rosé de Vidauban in Provence, a unique experimental center in France on rosé winemaking. Rosé production trends in some 30 countries have been monitored for 15 years thanks to samples entered in the Œnologues de France competition.
The 2021 edition of the two major international competitions of the Œnologues de France will be held with the communication partnership of the Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris trade show from February 15 to 17.
