Precision vineyard applications and selective harvesting

RIPRESO project demonstration day

Precision vineyard applications and selective harvesting

Great success for the 'Precision applications in the vineyard and selective harvesting' demonstration day organised on 2 September at Andrea Illari's Villa Rosa winery.

More than 30 participants including winegrowers, agronomists, oenologists, students, and researchers attended the event to discover the technologies and innovative solutions used within the RIPRESO project, which aims to improve the competitiveness of wineries through the use of precision viticulture.

The day saw the presentation of the #ROBO sensor and various solutions for real-time adjustment of the volume dispensed during phytosanitary treatments according to the actual vigour of the foliage developed by the Italian company Appleby, as well as the variable rate fertiliser from Casella Macchine Agricole S.r.l. At the same time, there was a demonstration of selective harvesting with New Holland Agriculture's Braud 9080L grape harvester equipped with the #Enocontrol system supplied through the Terrepadane territory dealer. Matteo Gatti, professor at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Piacenza and scientific head of the project, also guided participants through the agronomic validation process of the vigour map, a crucial operation for the correct implementation of variable rate vineyard management.

We would like to thank Andrea Illari for hosting the event, the companies that actively contributed to the success of the day, the company Pico Maccario for providing the selective grape harvester and for sharing their personal experience of using the technology on a company scale, and all the participants for their interest and valuable contributions to the general discussion.
