A NEW FUNGICIDE TESTED IN NORTH EASTERN ITALY

Boccalon W., Bressan S., Colautti M., Marchi G., Mutton P. (2003). L’Enologo, Marzo 2003, 89–97

A new fungicide was tested along a five years trial carried out on a Merlot vineyard in the Province of Pordenone. The area is traditionally characterized by high relative humidity values and severe vine-peronospora infestations. The trials were carried out with four replicates on plots made up of eight plants. The plots treated with the experimental fungicide were compared to those treated with traditional commercial product and to a control plot. The surveys of the infestation level were started as soon as the first symptoms showed up. The trial results pointed out the entire loss of the control plots for each season of trial. The new fungicide showed to be a high efficacy product comparable to the traditional commercial products. The new formula, in detail, being characterized by a different mechanism of action when compared to the traditional fungicide, is extremely interesting for a better management of the anti-resistance strategies, since it increase the number of available products that farmers can use along the season.
